Awlgrip launches low VOC two-in-one Gloss Finish Primer to accelerate superyacht coating processes

Share:

Awlgrip®, the trusted and premium yacht coatings brand, has introduced Gloss Finish Primer: a time-saving product for the superyacht market which helps professional applicators remove application steps from their new-build process.

Benefits for a simple, high-performance process

Gloss Finish Primer, which is used as part of the Awlgrip high-performance superyacht coatings system, combines the benefits of both a yacht primer and a show coat into one single product, cutting application steps, simplifying the process, and delivering the same outstanding performance.

The high gloss finish feature allows the applicator to quickly detect and address any imperfections before the final topcoat application to avoid reworks during a crucial part of the superyacht project.

In addition, the combination of fewer layers and higher volume solids compared to the normal two-layer step results in a reduction of low VOC coatings by up to 50% per square meter, making the process more environmentally friendly.

Jemma Lampkin, Global Commercial Director at AkzoNobel’s Yacht Coatings, said:

“We developed the Gloss Finish Product with our customers in mind, knowing that they demand efficiency, durability, and a flawless finish. By combining a high-performance marine paint with a show coat in one, we’re helping professionals to simplify the painting process and save time, without compromising on quality. This innovation is a direct response to the industry’s need for faster turnaround times, reduced material use, and superior results.”
