Exploris is the latest expedition yacht concept unveiled by Gresham Yacht Design. Made both for luxurious travel and for adventurous travel, she boasts an impressive size, measuring 100 metres in length, featuring an 18-metre beam and a height giving a feeling of stability.
The project’s naval architecture combines an ice-class hull with an inverted bow akin to the Ulstein X-Bow, which maximizes waterline length and therefore hull speed. It also has a wave-piercing effect in some conditions, further reducing pitching in bigger seas.
The generous beam results into plenty of space to enjoy. These include an observation lounge fully forward on the main deck, and a so-called “promenade deck,” directly above the bridge deck with an observation saloon and extra-wide side decks, which enhance the yacht’s curved exterior lines and is ideal for admiring approaching shores.
A private owners’ deck offers a forward dedicated observation lounge and interior styling by Seymour Diamond. The main saloon, located forward frames the surrounding landscape with panoramic views, while al fresco space is split into separate areas for lounging, dining, Jacuzzi-going and swimming in the 10-metre-long swim-jet pool.
Exploris will meet Lloyds’ standards for the Passenger Yacht Code, accommodating between 12 and 36 people in the owners’ party.
Next-to the tender garage, Exploris features a helicopter hangar capable of housing an Augusta Grand or EC135, and the certified helipad onboard can serve a larger Sikorsky S76. The tender garage features enough room for two 12-metre tenders, a Trident submersible, other water toys. An additional amenity is a dive room with a decompression chamber. When the tender garage is empty, it can be converted into a large beach club.
The combination of her propulsion system, featuring Azipods, and her thrusters makes her capable of dynamic positioning.
