On Thursday, June 15 th the event “One human’s trash is another human’s treasure” was held at the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli base in the port of Cagliari, a creative workshop designed to think outside the box and to promote the concept of circular economy by finding a second and functional life for waste abandoned in the sea and on beaches, or that would simply end up in a dump.
Max Lamb: design simple and elegant
During the event, participants had the opportunity to work closely with Max Lamb, a British designer known for his innovative fusion of traditional methods and contemporary design. His work is characterized by a specific focus on materiality and a deep understanding of the production process.
Known for his simple, functional and elegant designs, Lamb’s mission is to design products that are accessible to everyone and his portfolio includes collaborations with brands such as Ikea, Nike and Coca-Cola.
From waste to something useful
Using waste materials such as LDPE plastic and old spinnaker sails, the workshop explored the creative possibilities and sustainable solutions offered by recycling waste.
Participants were able to cut and sew sails to create multi-purpose sacs, also suitable for beach cleaning: products that not only have a strong aesthetic value, but also great potential, as their production cycle helped to reduce the carbon footprint.
Ogyre and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli remain committed to the fight against marine pollution and the promotion of sustainable solutions. The partnership between these two entities, united by their love for the sea, represents a significant step in creating greater awareness and promoting concrete actions to protect the oceans.
